Quality that is built in, not checked at the end.

Inspection at the end of a run can only tell you what already went wrong. Quality here is a series of decisions taken before anything is made at scale, and a set of gates a product has to pass before it ships. This page sets out both — and is precise about where our responsibility ends and yours begins.

How quality is built in.

Inspection at the end of a run can only tell you what went wrong. These four decisions are what stop it going wrong in the first place, and they all happen before anything is manufactured at scale.

Supplier standards

Most quality problems are supplier-selection problems that surfaced later. A factory that cannot hold a tolerance will not start holding it because the purchase order asked politely.

So partners are assessed before work is placed, not after a run disappoints. We look at what a supplier has actually made, whether they can produce the specification consistently rather than once for a sample, and how they behave when something goes wrong — because that is the moment that decides whether a problem reaches your customer or stops at the factory.

Materials

A specification is only as good as what it is written in. Material choice decides durability, finish, cost and — for some categories — whether the product may legally be sold at all.

We settle materials against the product and the market it is going into, and we write the choice down properly so the factory is not interpreting. Where a category carries regulatory requirements, those requirements are identified early and put in front of whoever is responsible for them, so nobody discovers a restriction after tooling is paid for.

What it catches

Inspection

Checking happens during production as well as after it. Finding a fault on the line means fixing a run; finding it at goods-in means arguing about a shipment that has already travelled.

Output is checked against the approved sample rather than against a general impression of quality, which is the difference between an objective judgement and a preference. Checks run through production and again at receipt, so a problem is caught at whichever point it first becomes visible rather than at the last possible moment.

Documentation

Documentation is what makes quality repeatable. Without it, a good result is an anecdote — something that happened once, with no way to make it happen again.

Specifications, approved samples, inspection findings and batch records are kept so that a repeat order starts from the same reference the first one did. It also means that when something does go wrong, the question of what changed has an answer rather than a discussion.

Part two

What we verify before it ships.

These are the specific gates a product passes through. Each one exists because it catches something that is far more expensive to find at the next stage — and the last of them is what stops the same fault happening twice.

Sample approval

Nothing goes into full production on an unapproved sample. This is the cheapest moment in the entire process to discover that something is wrong, and the only one where changing your mind is free.

You hold the physical thing, not a render. Weight, finish, colour under real light, how a seam sits, whether the print survives handling. If it is not right it is revised and resampled — we would far rather absorb another sampling round than a production run that has to be remade.

Batch inspection

Every production run gets checked. Not the first unit and a hope, but sampling across the batch, because the failure that matters is usually the one that appears halfway through.

Inspection covers construction, finish, measurements against the specification and the things that only show up in a stack — colour drift between cartons, inconsistent folding, packaging damage from the way a pallet was built. Findings go back to the supplier attached to a batch, which is what makes them actionable rather than a complaint.

Material and safety requirements

Some product categories carry legal requirements before they may be sold in the EU. Our job is to make sure those requirements are identified, briefed and evidenced — not to sign them off.

Regulatory responsibility sits with the party placing the product on the market, and we are clear about that rather than blurring it. What we do is surface the requirements early, put them in the specification the factory works from, gather what the supplier can evidence, and coordinate with your compliance advisor or test house so nothing is discovered at the border. Where a requirement needs formal testing or a declaration, that goes to the people qualified to give it.

What it catches

Packaging and labelling

A product can be perfect and still be unsellable because the box is wrong. Labelling carries information that has to be correct, present and legible — and packaging has to survive a journey it did not design itself.

We check that the required information is actually on the product or its packaging, that barcodes scan, that language versions are right for the destination, and that the pack protects the product through a real distribution network rather than a gentle one. This is also where the unboxing gets checked as an experience, not only as a container.

What it catches

Returns and defect analysis

Returns are the only unfiltered feedback you get. Treated as a cost, they teach nothing; read properly, they are the most honest quality data in the operation.

Returned items are inspected rather than just processed, and reasons are grouped so a pattern is visible. One faulty seam is an incident; the same seam across a batch is a specification or a supplier problem that will repeat on the next run unless something changes. That finding goes back into the specification, which is what closes the loop between this page and section 02.

We hold no quality certifications, and we do not publish defect rates we cannot evidence. Nor do we take on regulatory responsibility: under EU product rules that sits with the party placing the product on the market, and no amount of diligence on our side transfers it. What we do is identify the requirements early, brief them into production, collect what suppliers can evidence, and coordinate with the people qualified to sign off. Being clear about that is worth more to you than a reassuring sentence that would not survive an audit.
